Okay. Been well over a week. I’m a baaad zebra. *grin*
Here’s what I’ve been doing. *smile* I’ve been trying to finish those mannikins. I’ve finished the baby doll and taken her to site but I forgot to take pictures!!! I’ll take them today when I go back.
But I have photos of the beginning of my Boneless Chickens. *hee hee hee*
Earlier this week I accompanied Tanamin when he went to do a radio commercial for this guy who does a radio show. It’s a craft show so most of his listeners are women but he has no women doing his commercials. Sooo, Tanamin asked me to come along and give it a try.
I sucked. *grin* Well, not exactly sucked. My actual voice is not bad. It’s my timing and breathing that kinda sucked. But remember I’m an asthmatic. In any case it was a fun experience. He was interested in my voice and asked me to do a couple character voices so I did the only two I have - I never did stuff like that as a kid. Long story. Bad memories. But my play voices now are those I’ve been using for fun as of late. One is my Raggedy Anne. Most folks think I’m a sixteen year old when I’m in full costume and such. It’s a hoot. And then there’s my sort of Jennifer Tilly. Sweet little sexy voice. THAT one I do pretty well.
Again, though. Reading copy is *not* as easy as one might think. Especially when you do NOT want to sound like you’re reading. It’s acting, that’s for sure. I can act, if I’m not looking at the script/copy. But if I’m reading, and the copy is kind of sucky, it definitely sounds like I’m reading. Pooh.
The guy was very complimentary about my voice and wants me to come back after I’ve practiced. Can you see me walkin’ around the house, using different voices to talk to nobody? *grin* I think this is going to be a really early morning thing for me. *hee hee hee*
Let’s see. That was on Tuesday. Wednesday I went to site. I didn’t do as much as we’d hoped, but we got the “vines” and “mossy” stuff up on the swamp area of the 3D rooms thanks to Tanamin and his height. I could have done it but it would have taken me twice as long if I had to grab a handful, climb the ladder, staple it, climb down, grab a handfull, climb up, staple, climb down, move ladder, start over. Whew! That might have been a little too much for da Tashta. Now I just need to add some orange/red to give it a few highlights. Too much green/yellow. I hope to take pictures of that today, too.
For the most part, we sat with Lore and she slotted folks into their prospective positions. She asked our opinion on a few of the back-ups. We sure miss a few of the folks who aren’t coming back this year. They’ve moved on. Boo hoo! *smile* Some really nice acting. So, we’ll see what we have in this next crop.
Then we made the drive home, had lunch, napped and went out, again, to the hardware store so that Ed could buy the materials that are going to make the inside framework and bracing for Mr. Wiggles.
Interesting framework materials. Lots of pipes and plumbing and support stuff. Woah. Over $100 dollars worth - just for his framework. But it should last and last and last and last...
I can’t wait to see them put together cause then the real building begins! Woo hoo. Which reminds me - I have to go to Michaels and pick up some more textile paint for Ed to paint the tentacles and such with. Sickly blue and white I think. Yum. ;P
Our kitchen sink started leaking. Or rather, we could not get it to turn completely off. I looked at it and the inside sort of cartridge thingie that goes on the actual handle/water control is cracked. So it the handle top. So we went out and bought a new faucet.
It stopped leaking as soon as we did that. WTF? I think it felt it’s eminent demise. Silly thing is well over 11 years old. Time to retire in any case. *shakes head*
I’m almost done with the dummies. Well, not exactly. I’m closer to being done. One of them is done except for fixing her eyes in the mask and getting the correct wig for her. Her name is Lenore. *grin* If you’ve ever seen the comic, you’d understand. Then there’s Dorothy - Yes she sort of looks like that one. But her hand and leg are going to be bloody. *hee hee hee* Then there’s two more. I haven’t named them yet. One is wearing a rather old fashioned lace dress and the last one is not yet dressed. I want to dress her with a much more contemporary feel. Sort of like “Hot Topic” clothes. We’ll see.
I’m very proud of the hands I made for my “dolls.” I used white gloves, slid formed wire into them while they still had their cardboard backing inside of them - I slid the shaped wire underneath the cardboard - and then above the cardboard I started adding stuff in small bits so the hands didn’t end up looking too swollen. It worked out rather well. I’ll see if I can put together a sort of walk-through.
I’m off to do work on site for a few hours today. We’ll see how that goes. It’s more a cleaning day than anything else, I think. I need to find out which swings are safe - able to support a human body - and which ones are not.
I want to put car parts in the front room if at all possible.
Other chores today - go back to the hardware store. We didn’t get enough materials for Mr Wiggles framework. We forgot some pieces. Perhaps go to Michaels for that paint. But we may wait a week on that. Finances are rather low. :P But it’s always that way at the beginning of the month.
