Okay, having been told there is a rumor going around saying that I'm no longer on this plane of existance, and having been poked by a friend to state otherwise, I shall do so. I am not dead, (I don't want to go on the cart!) though my lack of posting *is* due in great part to some pretty major health issues. Now, with that out of the way, what actually got me to post -other than the concerned poke from a friend - was what I watched at the following link.
I have a migraine and seeing this actually got a chuckle out of me. Miracles DO happen! *smile*
Oh...sort of NSFW - even though it's darned adorable. So you have been warned and no, there are no nekkid bodies.

Hi all!
In the world of haunting, I had a wonderful time this year at Hobb’s Grove.
( A bit of Hobb’s )
( And in health news... )
( Hobb’s Cast Party )
It was a nice closing. Got lots of hugs from my house crew, even from those folks who I know rarely give such things. Makes me very happy. And quite a few of them were wearing their little blinky paws! Yes!
It was a good year. I enjoyed it.
Now to focus on Christmas at the Grove! Bwa ha ha ha! |

Woah. To say today was a bit of a task is to put it mildly.
I’m talking about my Hobb’s home. *smile* ( Cut for length )
The night finishes and we’re done till tomorrow.
I can’t wait. It will be the busiest night of the season. The last Saturday. Parking will be hell. We’ll get the drunks later into the night and asses before that. It’s just what happens.
But we also get the wonderful ones. Teenagers with huge eyes when they see Ralf or Orinoco the sort-of-dragon puppet that Ed controls. Screams and mad giggles of delight when folks get the scares they’re hoping for.
I love it.
*grin* |

October 23rd 2007
Been a while, as usual. Lots of stuff.
Shall we?
Stuff behind cuts ‘cause some of it’s long. :)
( “Hobb’s )
( “Puppy )
( “Leisure )
But for tonight? It’s Chinese food and movie rentals. Silly things like Meet the Robinson’s, 28 Weeks Later and The Fantastic Four, Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Yay for a relaxed movie filled evening. *grin* |

What is it with me? Must I injure myself every year at Hobb’s Grove? Must I??? Geez.
Last night was our fourth night open. And it was running wonderfully! And I was immensely proud of myself because I was able to take care of almost everything myself. Truly cool. (My “legs” was running late. *smile*)
And so, here I am, carefully walking toward the ticket taker and *whump* I trip on a root…or something. WHAM! Down onto my backside with a rather hard connection to the ground.
Owie.
Okay. There. It’s done. I’ve had my fall for the season. No worries now. (Considering I’d already misstepped four times for the evening and it wasn’t quite 9 o’clock. Still had three hours to go!)
So, I go on my merry way.
I was SO proud of myself because my “legs” was late so I had to take some those duties and I did it with much less physical stress than I expected! In fact I didn’t even get out of breath for much of it. This is a Very Good Thing. It means my own stamina is finally returning – albeit slowly. I was so happy!
The House was running very well. We even had extra actors! I was in the process of taking one of those actors to one of the upstairs scares as he is one of our better people but because he can’t be there every day, he’s more of a “where do we need someone BIG and scarey?” So in he went to an area where an insane little girlie was “chained” to an old dentist chair. She’d rip free and rush the customers, while laying her hand on a hidden switch. The switch turned on a light from below the floor. It’s then that the customers look down and realize they’re not standing on wooden floor. In fact it looks like they’re not standing on anything. It’s 1” plex. *grin* And the screams and rapid movement ensue.
So, taking our wonderful floater, named Lucky up to that room I tripped.
Badly.
I fell hard with my full weight onto by left knee.
SLAM!!!
Tears sprang to my eyes but I told myself, “Do not cry!” So I didn’t.
Lucky had tried to catch me as I fell but missed. He helped me up. I seemed okay if achy with my knee throbbing a bit. So I placed him and left them to it. I stepped outside to go down the stairs and THEN I cried for a moment. The adrenaline and pain had been so intense and sudden. As I snifflingly (is that a word?) descended the stairs I felt fine, but my knee started to feel…tight.
I walked into the green room and without even looking at my knee I grabbed the ice pack out of the ice chest and laid it onto my knee. Then I sat there, weighing my options.
Especially when I lifted the ice pack to peek at my knee.
Soft ball sized in moments. Grrrreeeat!
I asked one of our knowledgable actors which of our actors was a paramedic as I knew we had at least three.
Well that just happened to be Lucky! So down he comes, takes a look at the knee – which, by the way, I had to cut the leg of my stretch pants for, as the knee was so swollen that “stretch” pants would not stretch over the knee.
“I’d suggest the hospital.”
Off we went.
But wait, there’s more! To get to the hospital, I had to take Tanamin away from his spot. Then there’s me leaving my responsibilities as well. Two team leaders gone on a SATURDAY!!! ARGH!
But, off we went. They immediately saw me but that was just for initial exam and registration…then several hours we were seen. The knee had swollen considerably in that time AND it had also started to shrink. Yay! I think.
Saw the Dr...he didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. No, I take that back. They did x-rays, so they did tell me nothing was broken or ripped. THAT I was not sure of except that though it was swollen, the pain was minimal.
So I had a softball knee. No problem. Got an immobilizing brace and was told to follow up with an orthopedist – of whom they gave me a number.
Monday. We’ll jump that hurdle when we come to it. *sigh*
Hobb’s was well over by the time we got home. Around 2 am or later.
So, my Crash and Burn for the season *might* be over.
Maybe.
I think the House is out to kill me.
(More later. Maybe with pics!) |

| Hearts, Legs, Cars, and Bikers...oh MY! |
[Sep. 11th, 2007|11:26 pm] |
Okay. Been several weeks. Again, with reason. I’m just gonna write. Read if’n you want. *smile*
Hobb’s Grove is going to open soon. We’ve done the interviews as you know from my previous posting. Said little Drama Queen is still trying to get back into the game and still going about it all wrong, being provocative and all. *sigh* From his actions he’ll now never get hired by us. Ever. Actually, from the sounds of it he doesn’t need Hobb’s, he needs professional help. The way he “acts” it’s as if he’s never been told “no” for anything he’s ever wanted. Or if he was told no, he begged and pleaded and eventually likely got his way just to shut him up.
Not this time.
In any case most of the main folk who run Hobb’s got together about a two weeks ago and discussed as much as we could about what we were going to do for the haunt. What scares were going where and how much work was still necessary. LOTS! It was great fun! And being with all the top folks of Hobb’s always makes me feel good. They’re all so creative!
It’s also been decided when we’re going to open.
The 10th to the public. The 6th likely to a corporate party. *grin* Hopefully a BIG one.
Wheeeee Hobbs!
I’m excited because as usual, I get to be something we affectionately call the Babysitter. This is the person who makes sure that everyone is taken care of. Makes sure they don’t need anything as they’re going to be in the same place, doing the same thing, over and over and over for the next five to six hours. Bathroom breaks, smoke breaks, sore throats, headaches, etc., do happen. I take care of all that. I’m kinda naturally nurturing that way. *grin* When someone needs a potty break I or Tanamin usually takes their place for five minutes as that is taken care of. For the past two years Tan and I have had a set of “extra legs” that’s helped out that we call the “floater.” Last year it was a delightful little blond who I tested to see how she’d deal. She’s cute. But she’s young. We went through a bit of a tough bump last year, before she helped me out and was just one of the actresses. She thought that she could use her cuteness to take advantage of several situations (before I made her my floater.) That stopped very quickly. The one really good thing is that she now listens. And when she doesn’t she’s at least pretending to listen.
I’m still constantly amazed that much of the youth thinks that the boss lady and I don’t know when they’re lying to us. We do. Even those who have been lying to us for years. It’s just not worth the time to face them with it. And unless it becomes a problem for Hobb’s it doesn’t matter. If it makes it so their spot is empty some Friday or Saturday night, oh well. They lose that spot. *shrug* That party must have to be pretty damned good to give up that nice paycheck. *grin*
There’s a little problem. This year I’m not as...mobile as I usually am and Tanamin will be working the Forest instead of working the House with me. Let me explain the little problem.

Some Neater Things
A week ago last Saturday we were driving to Hobb’s for a get together with the boss I think it was and we stopped at a convenience store for snackies.
Standing outside at the side, were three old biker dudes. It looked like they were all just finishing up sodas. They all had grey ZZ Top beards to their stomachs and long silver hair tied into pony tails in the back. Two were wearing black leather vests. One a denim vest. Across one it proudly declared he was a Vietnam vet.
Awesome. And their bikes were big no nonsense rumblers. I gave a thumbs up to them as they were getting on their bikes, (all of them were vet’s – their bikes proclaimed it). They looked at first surprised and then pleased as they gave me very dignified nods and took off, rumbling down the highway. It was then that I remembered that it was Labor Day weekend. I wondered which rally they were headed toward.
Seeing them made me think of one of my favorite people. And it made me smile widely.
*waves with deep affection to “Lord Chaos.”*
So, that’s it for the moment. I’ll be doing a lot of ordering stuff for Hobb’s this week. I’ve already started. *smile* Skeletons, special masks and prosthetics. Some silly props for our evil clowns. And I get to order more, today. I have to admit. Often ordering stuff is lots of fun! And boss lady gives me an awful lot of freedom in choosing things I think will benefit Hobb’s. I’ll often choose stuff and ask her what she thinks and she’ll wave me off. “If you think it’ll work, let’s get it.” *grin* The boss lady is great! *smile* |

I hate drama. I hate emo sh*t. I really do. I especially hate it when it’s used to try and manipulate me. Grrr grrr grrr.
This all stems from the interviews I helped do this last Sunday for Hobb’s Grove. It’s a yearly thing done the last Sunday of every August. We do “Interviews with the Vampires,” *grin* to acquire a bit of new blood for Hobb’s. We usually find a few gems with quite a few kids who are all enthusiasm until they find out that working at Hobb’s Grove for three weeks is actually _work! *sigh*
In any case, out of about twenty seven interviews there were – what I thought at the time – were about nine definite hires and about 12 who would be good but we had no definite spaces for so they’re to be part of what we call Back-Up.
“Back-up” folks are folks who are not paid the full payscale because they’re not full time workers. They come and sort of hang around, waiting to see if one of the perms did not show up or called in “sick” on a Fri/Sat, or some other such circumstance which left us a spot or more, short.
Then after observing their enthusiasm level in the position that they have to fill, we’re able to determine whether they get to keep that spot (due to the circumstances that it was empty in the first place.) Then they become perm. Most of our Back-ups become perms. *smile* It’s just how things work.
In ANY case, we got some really nice immediate hires this time around. Lots of enthusiasm and talent.
( A bit of drama. Long posting full of a bit o’ rant. )
*deep breath* Rant over. Move along. Move along. Nothing more to see here. *smile* I just needed a place to let off steam. Thanks everyone! *wry and tired grin* |

Hi, all!
Tonight we celebrated my birthday as this week was too hectic to do so. Besides the guys bringing me home a wonderfully over rich dinner – ranging from artichoke hearts, coconut rolled shrimp to filet mignon, I received a few nice gifties and, by far the most fun, was this http://www.stripedsmiles.com/07_BDay_Card.html wonderful card. If you play WoW, you can appreciate it even more. *grin.
Another thing that I received this week in the mail was http://shadow.spandexfurs.com/gallery/index.cgi?mode=image&album=/Tails%20and%20other%20Yarn%20Craft&image=P8010003.JPG this awesome tail made by theassassinnox in a trade that we have worked out. It’s georgeous and I’m thinking of making a silly little “doll” type grey fox costume to go with it. It looks nice in the photo but you should feel it in real life. It has a wonderful plushiness to it! Thanks again, Shadow!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.
I’m finishing tonight off with a peach turnover (no cake for me) specially made by our local Lauck’s bakery. And boy are THOSE pastries tasty! *smile* |
